Prof. Smith comments on first draft of Wikipedia article
[edit]Hi Susan,
I'm impressed by how well you polished and organized the article. It is a very clear, straightforward article that touches most of the key points.I have a few things that I would like to see you address for the final version:
1) The section on "Notable Members" isn't as well developed or as polished as the rest of the article. I would like to see you expand this into an actual (short) paragraph that explains who each man was and what role he served in the convention.
2) I would really like to see some type of statement, even a brief one, about what the most important outcome or result of the convention seemed to be. You have the resolutions, but were those the most important outcome of the meeting? I would suggest adding a subheading (called outcomes or legacy) just below the resolutions with a sentence or two of text in which you explain the key accomplishments of the convention.
3) Finally, were African American women involved in the convention at all? Our partner website, the Colored Conventions Project, really wants us to add material on women whenever possible. Please check your minutes again on this point and include information on women if possible.StaceySmithOSU (talk) 04:28, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
LaChappelle feedback for peer review
[edit]Your lead is strong and gets right to the point, setting the event in time and place and connecting it to the bigger movement. The structure in general flows well, and I think it's a good idea that you included all of the resolutions that were adopted by the convention members. Your tone is neutral and the article is balanced with reliable sources. If I had to make a suggestion, I'd say maybe showing what was voted on that wasn't adopted by the congress would be beneficial.
